Students give money to local village hall
Posted 29 June 2010
Students at Harper Adams University College have handed another local charity a helping a hand by donating £100 to Lilleshall Memorial Hall.
The Students Union has raised thousands over the last year and has handpicked a number of local charities to donate money to.
Today (TUES) it was the turn of Lilleshall Memorial Hall in the nearby village of Lilleshall.
Pam Millard, chairman of the hall was on hand to accept the cheque.
She said: “This money is very gratefully received. We have just had our Art Nouveau doors refurbished so this money will go towards that.
“We have to raise money throughout the year to keep the hall going. It is very well used by the community and is booked up all the time.
“We hold a number of fundraising functions and we have been holding a village pantomime here for 22 years.”
Chris Manley, Student Union President 2009/10, handed Mrs Millard the cheque.
He said: “We really wanted to help as many local charities as possible and Lilleshall Memorial Hall is another worthy local cause. The village hall is the heart of the community.”
Over the year the Raise and Give (RAG) team has held a range of events to raise money and the new college year this September will herald the start of the fundraising once more.
